Adjusting sensitivity of 40D

I've got two 40D's. One is 1/3 stop brighter than the other when exposed under identical situations with identical settings on manual. They are also different color but we can adjust that easily.

I do not want to change ISO except as a last resort and we always use these on manual. It would be a huge help to get these to match exactly. Does anyone know of a way to adjust sensor speed in the camera menu so that we can get these to match exactly?

I thought I would try here before sending anything to Canon. If it's in the manual, well, I'm lazy.

Thanks, Doug

Are all processing parameters (picture style settings) the same on the two machines? Is the same lens involved in each for the comparison?

Re: Adjusting sensitivity of 40D

Sort of like owning a clock shop and never really being sure of what time it is.

I think Noel has a 40D and may be able to help. I don't know if it has the ability to individually tweak the ISO or not.

Re: Adjusting sensitivity of 40D

Is WB set the same on both? NOT auto! I attended Ed Pierce's seminar recently and he demonstrated how the changing the WB can change the camera's perceived "proper" exposure by 1/3 to 1/2 a stop using a 1D3.

I just got a second 40D and now your gonna make me go check to see if the two agree, aren't you!

Re: Adjusting sensitivity of 40D

I have heard there can be sensitivity variance between different cameras. A while back folks were complaining that the 40D was less sensitive than the 20D.

I don't know of a way to adjust the sensitivity calibration other than using the ISO menu.

Re: Adjusting sensitivity of 40D

Hi, Doug,

Also, was the color balance set the same on the two machines (if it was the JPG outputs that were being examined)?

Best regards,

Doug

Re: Adjusting sensitivity of 40D

Each camera's settings and lens were identical. I never use AWB, everything manual.

I found differences between 10D, 20D and 40D but expected that. I'd like to get these two cameras to match as precisely as possible. If we're shooting dual set-ups for sports or schools which we do often enough, it's a pain to keep track of which one has to be 1/3 stop lower.
