What I neglected to say was that in checking 20D vs. 40D I found my 40D was more sensitive than another person's 40D, both as compared to a 20D. What I came away from the exercise with was a realization that there are absolute sensitivity variations between cameras. I guess it's a fact of life with this kind of gear, though I wouldn't have expected it given the accuracy of the measurements it makes and the consistency all across the chip.

You'd just think that there would be an adjustment on it for this situation since there seems to be adjustments for everything else. One third to one half stop is a lot of leeway.

I guess it still is a prosumer camera.
