Re: Why was "Erase All" removed? Minor 40D Rant

Hi, Noel:

As you probably know by now, the "Erase All" function on the 40D has been moved to the Playback menu. It was not removed from the camera. In fact, the 40D has a nifty feature that isn't available on the 30D/20D/10D cameras, and that is the ability to quickly erase a set of checkmarked images. This feature is also available in the Playback menu under "Select and erase images." In my experience, this new method is much quicker than the older method of erasing images one at a time.

Re: Why was "Erase All" removed? Minor 40D Rant

Thanks for the info, Chuck.

The reality is that nifty features or format commands buried in menus are less useful than a feature tied to a button on the back. My point in bringing this up is that sometimes engineers may remove (or move) things because of complaints while there really are people who use the features without singing much praise about them.

As I mentioned before, it's really now not a problem for me insofar as I have my computer set up to automatically upload then delete the images from the camera when I plug in the USB cable. It couldn't be more convenient. This was a function I'd lost with the 20D as it never worked properly with the USB cable under Windows XP x64.
