What is folder stopping at 32 images?

I have Canon 10D for backkup.

Just did shooting. I got two folders of about 32 images each. Why?

Why not all in one folder? thanks!

The folders change whenever the numbers wrap around from 99 to 00.

I'm guessing you had shots numbered xx68 to xx99 in one folder, and xy00 through xy31 in the next.

Every 100.

For some reason Canon has limited the number of images per folder in the "semi-pro" camera line.

I normally use the USB cable to load my images, and the way the 40D integrates with Windows all the images copy into one folder on the computer. You'll see the folder structure with the maximum of 100 images per folder if you read a card directly.

Re: What is folder stopping at 32 images?

I'm on a Mac Noel. I have Firewire card reader, but I could get a USB(would that matter?)

Every 100? That's just nuts. Doesn't Canon know that Pro's also use these?

Re: What is folder stopping at 32 images?

up until the 20D the folders changed every 100. With the 30D that changed - there is no limit anymore.
I believe there is a way to force a new folder, so that if you change jobs part way thru a memory card you can create another folder and any shots from then on are in the new folder.

Yeah, it's very, um, unsophisticated to say the least.

Re: What is folder stopping at 32 images?

Thanks for the update, Chris.

I hadn't yet looked at the folder structure on my 40D card, to be honest. I wasn't aware it had changed.
