Wireless WFT-E3A any users, reviews?

I'm looking at a WFT-E3A for the 40D. All I can find are reviews that re-state Canon's specs. Nobody who actually says they are using it in regular work.

This is a new model just for the 40D. It's supposed to be better than the older model with a better antenea, but I'm trying to find transfer rates for jpgs not raw. Basically what I want to know is what the max. distance (not spec) is for reliable use and how many typical jpgs or megs per minute I should expect to see transferred.

We're in the middle of shooting hockey T&I and I'd love to have images pop up on a reviewing monitor in the parent's area. Figure skating starts in a few weeks and wireless would be a huge benefit, if it works properly.

Thanks, Doug

Doug,

While you wait for an answer from someone with experience of the WiFi you may like to take a look at the alternative I opted for. It's on

An alternative to Canon WiFi

I know it's not the route you want to follow, but sometimes a bit of lateral thinking produces a better solution.

Thanks Tony I appreciate your lateral thoughts.

I've spent an hour researching the Samsung and it might just do what I need. It seems so small that I could probably vecro it onto something. It is a bit more $$ than the wireless but may have a broader range of applications such as being able to use on different cameras. The one advantage of this idea is that I can see it and try it in a store vs Canon which is not stocked and I can't find anyone that owns one -yet.

" It seems so small that I could probably vecro it onto something."

I found a shoulder bag that is the right size to drop it into. That means I can shoot tethered with the Samsung in the bag and bring it out from time to time to see how I am progressing.

In another mode I work with those Active USB extension cables and, as long as it is safe, you can then put the Samsung on a flat surface quite a distance from where you are shooting.

Two extremes. One with a short USB cable and one with a much longer one.
