30D question on Focus Lock/AE Lock

I've got a question for you 30D power users. If the AF mode is set to AI Focus AF and you're shooting a stationary subject (so AF has defaulted to the One-Shot mode), does the Focus Lock function work?

At the top of the manual, page 79, it says Focus Lock only works in the One-Shot AF mode. But at the bottom of the same page it says "If the AF mode is AI Servo AF (or AI Focus AF set to Servo mode), Focus Lock will not work." So does that mean that Focus Lock will indeed work if you're shooting a stationary subject and have AI Focus AF selected (in which case the camera automatically switches to One Shot)?

And similarly, AE Lock should also function properly if you have Evaluative Metering selected and are shooting a stationary subject with AF mode set at AI Focus AF. Correct? (Ref page 96).
