Re: 20D: Seeing but not Synching with 550 or 420 f

Hi, Murph,

[ QUOTE ]
When Doug and I mentioned the 'main' battery, I assumed people would realize we were speaking of the 'button' cell, not the BP-511.

[/ QUOTE ]

Whoa! When I said "main" battery (and I realize now that this was not a foolproof choice of words), I meant the BP-511(A), the battery that runs the camera. I never thought that this term would be interpreted as meaning the backup battery.

I would have called the backup battery "the backup battery".

Sorry for any confusion my lack of precision caused.

Best regards,

Doug

Hey, Doug....

I was a bit thrown with your mention of how "We'd all be way irritated if it did" re: removing the 'main' battery. Yea, it would suck if we had to reset Cf's every time we changed the BP 511.

Yet pulling the 'backup' (the button, the 2025, the whatever) only resets the time/date. I had thought that it would reset Cf's as well as Parameter Set 1-2-3 as well, but it doesn't. (Which is good, since I neglected to note my Custom Parameters before pulling the button.)

Again, thanks to all for the attention.

-Neil

I thought that was the case, but since I wasn't sure, I didn't comment on it.

I pulled both batteries for about 90 minutes; after replacing them, my CF's were still set.

I stand corrected. Maybe I was making an assumption based on the behaviour of earlier bodies such as the D60. Not sure though.
Maybe the backup battery only really drives the clock these days.

Edit: too slow in responding obviously...
