Re: 30D Raw?

Hi Barry,
Adobe have not yet done the raw upgrade for the 30D. Rawshooter and Breezebrowser are working on the codes as we speak and they should release by next week. So, at the moment you will have to convert your raw files with the Canonsoftware that came with the camera.

Re: 30D Raw?

Barry,

I have been trying Zoombrowser EX which came with the software disc, and I am impressed with the raw convertion. I shot a wedding inside a stately home last week, and the room that the wedding took place was yellow/beige, I used AWB on the camera with bounced flash, needless to say I had a not so lovely gold cast. I was just playing after reading a post by chuck who suggested zoombrowser when I find a button under veiw that auto adjusts the colour, so I give it a try and wow I am very impressed, send the tiff file to photoshop cleaned up and sharpened and produced a cracking print.
With Zoombrowser you can first edit your files and star mark them next select all, go to veiw = adjust
image, or do each file that needs changing manually.

Re: 30D Raw?

Huh. You mean a camera that made *no change* in imaging equipment (same sensor. . same image processing chip) from the previous version produces files that are not 100% compatible with the previous version?

That just simply has to be deliberate.

Mike

I will give it a look but next weekend I will be shooting several thousand images arggg and my 1dMkII is in the shop for
a new shutter... they are hopeful that I will get it back in time...

as well

yes but no... the camera has the same sensor but am looking forward to the new processor... I am told lower noise in
the higher iso... welcome the change but am whining.....

Re: 30D Raw?

It's not exactly the same, even if the sensor chip is.
For example the ISO ranges in 1/3rd-stop increments, not whole stops.
Also there are new functions, and presumably extra information in the file metadata (and unfortunately these additions are not always backwards-compatible).

I'm limping along with DPP for now, but I'll be very happy when the next ACR update comes out!
And it'll be nice when Lightroom can handle 30D files - I've had to put my Lightroom experiments on hold.
