Huh. You mean a camera that made *no change* in imaging equipment (same sensor. . same image processing chip) from the previous version produces files that are not 100% compatible with the previous version?
That just simply has to be deliberate.

Well, I doubt Canon did this for the sole purpose of making a bit of extra work for 3rd party raw software authors. This is probably a side effect of the improved raw processing pipeline in the 30D. Yes, the sensor might be the same as the 20D's, but it doesn't mean the electronics around it are. For example, the 30D can buffer 10 raw shots instead of just 6, and I don't believe this is because the buffer itself is physically larger.
It appears that the 30D might be reading data out of the sensor in some sort of interleaved (maybe parallelized) fashion. If you try to process a 30D CR2 as if it were a 20D CR2, the image appears to be split into two halves. Anyway, the Bibble guys say they've seen this layout before, so it's trivial to incorporate it into the next release of the software.

I have only had one .cr2 file from a 30D to work with, but Irfanview can't even view the JPEG, and IRIS, which loads RAW data from cameras before they are officially supported, can't load the RAW. Something is *very* different about the 30D RAW files.

yes c1 does.. I am on my 30 day demo but it seems to take longer to convert and I the preview is not as accurate as the
finished file so I am not that good a adusting.
