More impressive than the 30D look what is attached

More impressive than the 30D look what is attached
In the posted image on the news link, Rob has a photo of the 30D but attached is a 85mm L 1.2 USM II lens. So the well respected 85mm L is being upgraded to a USM version. I think this is more exciting than the 20D upgrade.

It has always been USM, but rather slow. What the upgrade means we don't know yet, but let us pray for faster USM and half the price! [img]/images/graemlins/grin.gif[/img]

Yes but this says USM II.. so i suspect faster times to AF but doubt the half price but that would be nice too

Ah... interesting.

I am guessing that the changes are some combination of these: 1) internal focusing; 2) mechanical FTM focusing; 3) improved close-focus capability.

I'm sure a question will be whether a shift to an internal focusing optical design might affect the optical "fingerprint" in some way...

Yes I agree and love my 85 1.2 lens and it took 16 years for an upgrade. This lens still shoots great images. I am glad I bought the 5D as this 30D is a bit of a let down. I was expecting more from Canon but it has a good price point. I thought they would go to 10 mp or more. The larger screen will be wonderfull.

I must admit, the photo is very, very impressive.

I must admit. . .the 30D itself is very, very boring. A <huge> disappointment. Without a sensor upgrade. . .and without a significant AF upgrade. . .I can't even see why this camera is not a 20Dn or a 20D-II.
