Questions about Circular Polarizers and Hoods

This lens has a rotating front element, which makes it more difficult to use a circular polarizer. How much more difficult is it? A real hassle? or a small inconvienence?

Since it a rotating front element, how does a lens hood work for this lens? Does the hood also rotate, so petal type hoods are no-good?

No one has this lens locally, so it is hard for me to look at and judge up close.


Going to buy: Rebel XT, EF-S 17-85mm, and 70-300mm IS (non-DO)

Just noticed your question - I have no problem adjusting a circular polariser although it would be easier if it did not rotate !

Re the lens hood - I will have a look and get back to you
