EVU vs. DPP query

If EVU is used to:

1. personalize RAW file names while downloading from CF card to computer
2. caption RAWs
2. adjust RAWs exposure & white balance
3. convert RAWs to TIFs

And Photoshop is used to:

1. add copyright to TIFs
2. convert TIFs to JPGs

What is need for DPP? Advice appreciated.

Re: EVU vs. DPP query

DPP would probably replace EVU and offers more features. You can find more information from the DPP instruction manual which can be downloaded from http://www.canon-asia.com/index.jsp?...t&prod_type=dc

Re: EVU vs. DPP query

Canon are giving us more than one choice for Raw converters. The output is quite different from the two. You need to experiment to see which you like better.

Just yesterday I was down and dirty with the pixels, comparing JPEG, DPP, EVU, and Photoshop CS. In my (strong) opinion, NO ONE method of producing an image does it all best. Some generate more noise, some generate more digital artifacts, some pull out nearly blown highlights better, some fuzz reds more, ... the list goes on.
