Something Funny Going On!

Of late I've been having problems with my 10D recording JPEG images and writing them to my Sandisk Ultra Cards (while being visible via the LCD), then (some) of those images not turning up when transferred to my IMAC via a USB cable. Or to be more precise the images are THERE, it's just that the IMAC can't read them. They just come up as mere unreadable icons within IVIEW. Does anyone know what is going on?

Re: Something Funny Going On!

Hi John,

I'll take a stab even though I'm PC, as in Windoze not politically correct! It sounds like something is corrupting the data. Possibly a problem with the CF card itself. I've had on occasion files that displayed on the camera, and are fine on my Nixvue back up drive, but are corrupted when my assistant downloads them. Sometimes they open and half the image will be one solid color and sometimes the won't even open as you described. This has only happened with my 10D's and possibly only one of them.

Try numbering your CF cards and see if the problem only occurs on a particular card.

Good Luck,

Bill

Hi John,
This is probably some system weirdness, try repairing permissions on your HD, and if that doesn't cure your problems download a utility like Panther Cache Cleaner and do a deep clean of all caches, this fixed some serious weird stuff on a coleagues' mac the other day - you may have to reset some things like iChat icons afterwards. If you need more help, just let me know.

Best of luck,
Dimitris

Re: Something Funny Going On!

ok - a view & a post - I came in because the title sounded interesting, but as I run neither Mac nor IView (I use a PC & Card Reader) I can't help.
sorry.

Re: Something Funny Going On!

This will be a process of elimination. Firstly try the said card on another machine, also are the images still readable in camera? If the images are not readable either in another machine or in camera then its a card problem. If the images are readable then the problem is with either the transfer device or the program. If transfering from camera via USB try a card reader, if problem persists then can only be software.

If the problem is the card then you may be able to recover the images by using software such as Image Recall or similar.

Hope this helps

Re: Something Funny Going On!

Much thanks for everyone's input. I'm going to run some further test to properly identify where the problem REALLY lies. Gawd damn technology, this never happened with film. JC
