10D Shutter Release

Has anyone experienced this problem?

Using the 10D on any of the 4 Canon lenses I have.

After the following procedure for AF and shooting:
Press shutter button to focus,
Get beep,
Full depress shutter button to shoot

Results:
No shutter release at all OR Shutter released after about 1-2 seconds.

The above happens 50% of shots and occurs in both modes I use; One shot & A1 Servo.

Is it me or the 10D? BTW, this 10D is the new replacement(December 2003) from Canon Canada for the first 10D with Back Focus.

Any comments will be greatly appreciated,

Thanks

Latafat

Hi Lat,

Check your custom function 4. It may not be set to the default. CF-4 controls the function of the * button and the main release.

Enjoy. We were out this weekend and got some great black necked stilt shots.

Re: 10D Shutter Release

Hi Dan,

Tried my 500 today; took 69 shots of a Redtail that waited around for about a half hour. Also I checked the CF 4 function, it was set to '0' I did not have to reset it. Of the 69 shots taken there were as many missed because the shutter would not fire after the beep. I think it's time to take it into Canon.

Thanks

Latafat
