| Re: Screen Shot... Michael, Doug, Paul and Others,
There are many third party screen shot applications. However both Windows and Mac OS offer built-in support for taking screen shots.
If you are using a Windows based system you can get a screen shot simply by hitting the "Print Screen" key. This grabs an image of your full screen. Then in Photoshop do Ctrl+N (File-New), you will get a new blank image the size of your monitor. Ctrl+V (Edit-Paste) will paste the captured image into the Photoshop image area perfectly and you can manipulate it as you wish.
On a Mac
Type Command+Shift+3 to take a screen shot which is saved within the startup drive or system folder.
Depending on your OS version these two alternatives may also work:
Type Command+Shift+4 for crosshairs you can use to select a portion of your display, once you release the mouse the picture will be taken.
Additionally, you can hit the spacebar after typing Command-Shift-4. Instead of crosshairs, you'll get a camera. Move the camera around to highlight any open window. Then click the mouse button to take a screen shot.
