1DM4 high-ISO video. Wow!

I just watched Laforet's "Nocturne", shot at night in LA, almost entirely at ISO 6400, and using ONLY available light. The quality and the low noise are eye-opening.

Goofy film, though. Technical merits aside, of course.

If only they could include autofocus capability.
(Yeah, yeah, and time code, and better audio...)

The impact of these new DSLRs that shoot video is starting to look truly revolutionary. I live in the middle of NYC, I'm constantly seeing video shoots, and roughly half of those I see these days are using DSLRs! I'm particularly seeing lots of 5DMk2s in use, generally with various attachments to make them more practical for videography.

While the DLSR is hardly an ideal design for videography on its own, I interpret the precipitous adoption of the DSLR for videography as a repudiation of existing dedicated video camera designs, which have—overall—stagnated for decades, even with incremental component improvements.
