| Re: Canon 5D MkII battery Hi, Noel:
There's not much difference in power consumption for normal photography between the original 5D and the 5D Mark II, but Live View and Movie Mode consume much more power than regular shooting.
At normal temps with a single battery pack, the 5D Mark II is spec'ed at 850 shots versus 800 for the original 5D. But in Live View mode, which is now with the 5D Mark II, shooting capacity goes down to 200 shots. The spec for battery life in movie mode with the 5D Mark II is approximately 90 minutes. These capacities can be doubled by running two LP-E6 batteries in optional Battery Grip BG-E6.
The BP-511A is physically smaller than the LP-E6, and its storage capacity is less (1390 mAH vs. 1800 mAH).
