This does relate to my new 5d MKII.
I use "Adobe" PS CS3 and and "Adobe" Lightroom 2.0 for everything. Now, I know that there are post in other forums about this issue but I thought it would be best posted here just in case anyone is wanting to buy this camera. I love the camera and have no issues with it whatsoever. But, in order to work with the raw files, an update is needed for Lightroom 2.0 to ver. 2.2. Version 2.2 suckes up all of my memory and eventually crashes my PC. OK, so I thought I would use Photoshop CS3 and Bridge to work on said RAW files. Nope, it is not an update but you have to upgrade to CS4 in order to work on RAW files. Meaning another $199. I got into a chat room with a representative about the issues and all he wanted to do was send me the link to the upgrade website. The chat is posted below. Now am I just too pissed off to see clearly or is this BS?

Why blame Adobe? I understand your need to vent but let's be realistic here. You bought a camera that has just been released to the public. It will take a while until Camera Raw updates are made available. Until then, Canon has provided you software to decode the RAW files so that they can be used in Photoshop.
Of course Adobe wants you to upgrade Photoshop to the latest version. That is why they develop RAW updates for the most recent version first. Photoshop CS4 is well worth the upgrade. Bite the bullet and buy the upgrade.
Why? So far I haven't found any answers to the Lightroom delema. Yea, I will eventually upgrage but given the amount of $$$ spent so far on Adobe LR and CS3 and I have recieved ZERO support. These programs were not purchased years ago but less than a year and are obsolete for RAW files. I would rather not use the software that comes with the camera. Did you not read the chat?
I agree with Terry. This is not a new software issue, it is a new hardware issue. CS3 and LR are recent enough upgrades that they should support a new camera with an update. It could be they haven't got around to it as yet.
Also, it is obvious that you were not talking to the right person. And, I'd bet it was some guy in India whose only function is to sell upgrades.
In the meantime, it appears that the only option may be the Canon furnished software. This has been the case in the past with both Nikon and Canon.
Patience, Terry. It'll work out. It always does.
