| Re: Chuck: 3 yr warranty 1Ds3? Hi, Ron:
Canon USA is not planning to duplicate Canon Europe's warranty extension program for the EOS-1D Mark III and EOS-1Ds Mark III cameras. Incidentally, Canon Europe's offer is a 1-year extension on top of the standard 1-year warranty, for a total of 2 years, not 3 as your headline suggests. >>The offer consists of a one-year extension on top of the one-year Standard EWS warranty, under identical terms and conditions. This gives you a total warranty period of two years from date of purchase.<<
I cannot comment on the reasons behind Canon USA's decision in this area, since it is a matter for our Service Department to handle.
However, I can point out that US-based 1D Mark III owners who sent their cameras in for AF mirror adjustment have already received a warranty extension, and also that claims for warranty service with 1D Mark III and 1Ds Mark III cameras are handled on a case-by-case basis, even in cases where the original warranty period has expired.
If you want any further clarification on Canon USA's warranty policy for EOS-1D Mark III or EOS-1Ds Mark III cameras, I would recommend that you contact our Service Department directly.
