I loved the presentation, many thanks for posting it here. The Nyquist Frequency came up in something I was looking at recently so I did some reading on the subject. This presentation put matters into a solid perspective regarding this subject.

While the presentation was targeted at video camera systems it covered the following points, points which should be of great interest to still photographers…

1) Made the difference between sharpness and resolving power very clear
2) Showed how to interpret the MTF curves where they are published for a given for lens
3) Explained the relationship between the Nyquist Frequency and Moiré
4) Showed exactly what to look for in those test patterns used in camera/lens reviews

This provides a lot of food-for-thought when looking at the top Canon vs Nikon bodies. The difference between them in terms of their photo site count is less important than it would at first seem.
