1DIII sensor cleaning feature

Does this feature work for the majority of people?

I have my 1DIII set to clean the sensor when turning it on and off but dust seems to accumulate at a similar rate as on other DSLR that I own/have owned.

Re: 1DIII sensor cleaning feature

When I received mine in December it was extremly dirty and I cleaned it about three times with Eclipse2 and removed all the "oil" from the sensor filter, after that I have had no other sensor dust. I was very hard to clean originaly.

Re: 1DIII sensor cleaning feature

I have had my 1D3 cleaned by Canon after they left glue on the focussing screen during the replacement of the sub-mirror assembly. It was returned spotless and since then, January 08, the sensor has needed no intervention on my part to clean it. I check it regularly and there is no dirt discernable even though I've changed lenses hundreds of times in the interventing period.
cheers
Ross

Re: 1DIII sensor cleaning feature

Thank you guys for your responses.
I have cleaned the sensor (wet cleaning) 4 times already since I got the camera back in November. Plenty of dust keeps showing up. In particular there is a large dust spot that can't be cleaned (at least by me, using eclipse liquid). I have sent the camera to Canon.

Raul.

Re: 1DIII sensor cleaning feature

I had mine since 1 August 2007 and I must say that I've never noticed any sensor dust appearing on my photos! No, not even after 15K images! I'm impressed!
