Question EOS 5D Mark II

Sometime ago I saw a photo/artical online about (what I believe) will be the replacement for the 5D: CANON 5D MARK II. As memory serves the artical said this updated the MARK II would generate 16+ meg files , would have faster autofocus , as well as other improvements . Does anyone know where one might go to find out more about the MARK II 5D?

There is no such animal, just hopeful speculation.

Re: EOS 5D Mark II

Actually - yesterday 2 different Canon reps from 2 different regions of N. America both said that the release date is April 22. I got separate confirmation from my sales rep that he expected shipments in late April and he's not one to hype. I emailed in my request to be in line for one, regardless of whether it is vaporware or not. I just love Christmas presents in the Spring.

BTW, just so you think I'm not a crazed idiot buying the latest & greatest, if this doesn't materialize, I desperately need another camera for May and I'll be getting another 40D.

This is the exact date that was mentioned on a UK pro forum a couple of weeks back, so maybe .............

Re: EOS 5D Mark II

I too have heard the rumours...Canon should announce stuff next week - it's our local annual PPA school and canon ALWAYS announces stuff on the Tuesday of the school week - cause I'm there and won't know about it till the weekend.
This year I'm not going there, but will be in Detroit Wed/Thurs, so I'd expect their announcement to be then so again, I'll be 2 days behind the rest of the world.

I've heard 16mp FF (new sensor) and new AF system with 21 points, and ISO 12,800 with a push to 25,600, weather sealing ala the 40D. $3499 But that rumour says availability June 2.

I've also heard a rumour of a second 5D that is a 12 mp 1.3 sensor...and priced around $1800...a Nikon fighter, slot filler type thing.

No matter the rumours, I'll believe it when I see it. And if it has a new AF system I'll buy it.

Ya, I think so too, but if the rumors are true, I still want the new one for family portraits and weddings. The rest of the stuff is just fine. FF is really NICE aka "I can see again".
