Canon 28mm-300mm zoom

Does anyone use this lens, if so what are their experiences of it. It does seem to have an incredible zoom range. I'm wondering if this has a detrimental effect on image quality. I'll be using it on a 5D and trying to reduce the number of lenses I carry around with me

Thanks

John C

Re: Canon 28mm-300mm zoom

I have a Canon 28-200 which works well, Though I prefer to use my Sigma 28-300. Not the fastest lens but for daylight walkaround its hard to beat.

Re: Canon 28mm-300mm zoom

i'm very skeptical of any lens's performance with a larger zoom range than 28-70 for example or about 3x. of those super zooms, i have heard they are ok, maybe about a 7.5-8/10 overall, probably good in the mid range, but having problems on either end.

This lens has been around for many years, first as a 30 - 300mm and now as a 28 - 300 mm with IS. You can see a review of this lens here Canon EF 28-300mm f/3.5-5.6 L IS USM Lens Review
