Re: Aftermarket 1D batteries

Tim,
I've heard good and bad with a lot of the aftermarket batteries... Some have really good luck and some with bad luck. The common thread with all seems to be the fit and seal of the batteries...

What I've read on another thread was some take apart their dead Canon batteries and swap the ends with their new aftermarket batteries... Which is what I will probably do with mine once I get my new ones.

I've been a hard core Canon user since buying my Canon AE-1 way back in the day... If money weren't an object, I'd buy the Canon battery all the time. But, unfortunately I'm a regular working guy like most and I've got to watch my dollars and cents...lol!

Thanks,
Larry

Re: Aftermarket 1D batteries

Larry,

I think it's a good idea to swap parts from a worn out Canon battery, and I've read about people doing that too. If I ever wear out the Canon battery so that its parts are then available, I might try that route also.

Re: Aftermarket 1D batteries

I have 3 third party batteries for my 1DsII. I have one marketed by Delkin and 2 of the Black Diamonds mentioned above. The latch that turns to lock the battery in the camera sometimes loosens on it's own, but the secondary latch has always kept the battery in the camera. As far as numbers of exposures go, here is a link to a test I did with the first one I got (Delkin). These tests were run on a 1Ds (not MkII). (basically they performed the same).
