Captrue One and Canon 1DSMKII?

Hey,
I was teching on a job over the last 4 days and noticed that on day 3, that after importing the files from the CF cards, via C1, that the files were completely gone or wiped from the card, after import. Is that strange or what? I don't know what the problem is there, but maybe someone knows or has had this happen before. It is rather odd. I used both Extreme IIIs, and Lexar's. I opened the folder in the finder (that is the card mounted on the desktop) and there was nothing on or in the folder after import.

In Apple's Image Capture you can set a preference that the images are deleted from the card after downloading them. Perhaps you used that rather than Capture One?

Hey,
That doesn't make sense, perhaps I used that? As if I were unaware of what I was doing? NO! impossible. Something is corrupt in the software, and the probable culprit is more likely a corrupt P-List in C-One. Either way, Image Capture and Capture One, are entirely different apps, and about a 500 dollar difference. So there is no way there is a mistake here. But thanks any way. Good thing it was a rental.

I know the difference between the two, but because Image Capture is only a small window coming up over the full screen CO window, it's very well possible to use Image Capture by mistake thinking it's the download interface from CO. Anyway, if you are certain that didn't happen, it must be something else. I don't see how even a corrupt CO preference could possibly do this, though. Deleting files is a special action, which CO doesn't even have as an option on import...

Hi Again,
So you are aware of it and the interface? Then no argument here I guess. However, how or why if there was the possible scenario that such took place, why would I not catch it on day three, four or even day 5. Come on! There is no way I could be so blind or ignorant to such a mistake. Also, I like you, know the difference between the two interfaces.

Re: Captrue One and Canon 1DSMKII?

C1 acts kindof like a file browser. if you delete files you can permanetly delete them. perhaps the CF card was in the reader and they got deleted this way.

i dont import images into C1 from the card. i make sure the program is not open. and download them to a folder and another backup folder that i burn to a dvd.

johan refering to something in the C1 preferences perhaps...

Re: Captrue One and Canon 1DSMKII?

No, I didn't check it before I wrote my comment. Sorry for that. I think the answer is dead simple. If you connect a memory card (through a card reader) or a camera to the computer while CO is already running, it throws up a dialog to download the images. I thought there was no option to delete the images afterwards, but there is: Right at the bottom it says: 'Remove captures from media after import'. My guess is that this option was checked.
