Re: Just installed DPP 3.0 and can't see CR2 images

Ok trying this from the beginning again. I trashed the Canon Utilities folder and all the related plist items in my user library and main library. I looked at the installation instructions for ImageBrowser and it says that if I have a 1DsII then I should use EOS Utility to install Imagebrowser. I installed EOS Utility. Imagebrowser was not installed by EOS Utility and there is nothing in the EOS Utility application that can install Imagebrowser. I then decide to just move on to installing DPP. I download the latest updater 3.0 (there is no option to download anything but an updater) and run it and it says that the application to be updated is not installed is not installed and that the following applications can be updated:

DPP
File Viewer Utility
EOS Viewer Utility
RAW Image Task

As I understand it the last three aren't even used anymore. This is moronic.

Where can I download the latest version of DPP (not an updater)? Do I need ImageBrowser and if the Canon instructions are unclear/incorrect how should I really install this?

Steve, if you still have the original DPP disk, I'd just install that, then install the updater, and see if that works. I'm on a PC, so I can't help much with the Mac.

Re: Just installed DPP 3.0 and can't see CR2 images

I had an older file from the original 1D cameras where you could download it from Canon using the serial of your camera. So, what happened is that I installed that, and then tried updating DPP 3.0 off that install, no luck.

I had to get the CD that came with the 5D and install, then update to 3.0. No problems whatsoever. I don't think it's worth losing time to get the 3.0 update, there really isn't much more to it, except a Noise Reduction that I'm aware of, but it does seem much faster to process, but that could also be because I just updated my rig the same time I installed it, but even 2.1 was way faster on the new rig.

Re: Just installed DPP 3.0 and can't see CR2 images

The problem is that at the moment I have nothing.

Whatever happened to the likes of Chuck from Canon who used to monitor this forum in its former state regularly. This is the sort of basic stuff that really let's Canon down. Unless I am blind, there is no way to simply download the software and do a straight install. That's just plain stupid.

I'll have to go digging for that original CD...next weekend.

Thanks to all.

Steve

Hi, Steve:

I'm still here.

There are so many variations on individual SW installations that you'll be better off to contact our Customer Support Center by phone, so one of their technicians can walk you through the procedure while you're in front of your computer. The toll-free number for USA residents is 1-800-828-4040.

Steve,

Have you resolved the issue. I have Dual Core 2Ghz G5 and am having the same problem. I installed DPP 3.0.1 from a friends disc from his new 1DIII.

John

Re: Just installed DPP 3.0 and can't see CR2 images

This is for anyone who is updating to DPP 3.0 on the Mac platform and is having trouble seeing thumbnail images:

Quit DPP 3.0, go to Finder, locate the following file:

Admin/Library/Preferences/com.canon.Digital Photo Professional.plist

...move it to the Trash and empty the Trash. Then relaunch DPP 3.0 and your thumbnails should reappear.
