Re: Shutter Actuations (Exposure Count) for 5D Bodies

I shoot mostly tethered with a 5D and have the same frustration... not being able to make tethered shot numbers appear in the same sequence as non tethered shots. A marginal improvement is to set EOS Utility to name files using a sequential number rather than the "image number" or whatever they call it. You can set the starting number to whatever you want. Set it to the last camera recorded number plus one if you want. At least this way the tethered shots will continue in sequence through multiple shoots. EOS Utility remembers where the last shoot left off when you launch it and begin again on another day. With "image number" each shoot starts at 0001 again.

The only problem with the sequence method is that when it hits the end, it doesn't start over. If you use a four digit number and hit 9999, the next images will be 9999-1, 9999-2 and so on. When you're getting near the rollover point you need to remember to manually reset.

Yes, but the 5D isn't listed in the targeted cameras for CanCount.
