Remote Cable release for 1D2 / 1D2N

A friend of mine has a spare remote cable release he used with a D60 -- will this work with the 1D2 / 1D2N. This is not the wireless remote but an actual cable which I would find useful with tripod mounted shots

The short answer is yes.

The remote control for D60 and 1D2(n) is the RS-80N3 and /or its timer variant.
