Banding and degraded raw image from 5d

Using both sandisk or lexar cards I occasionally get degraded raw images, the jpgs are fine. Sometimes they look like a wierd colorized Peter Max image other times it's just a small band in part of the image that is messed up.

I even has this problem with my 1ds in the last 6 months.

I thought it might be Canon DPP but when I transfer the images to Photoshop they do the same thing.

The cards have all been formated etc.

I remember an old post about the firewire Lexar card reader having problems so I switched to a Sandisk USB 2 card reader and lo and behold the files from the original compact flash card were fine!
