Low-light focusing and the 1Ds2

Recently I've done some indoor shooting with the 1Ds2 and the AF seems very unresponsive. The red focuspoint in the center (which is what I use) lights up when I push the shutter release halfway but the lens will not focus, even with high-contrast subjects. Only if moved towards a light source do I get any reaction. Mostly I've used the L 135/2 and 35/1,4.
I'm still using the earliest firmware since I've never had any issues whatsoever with the camera.
So the question will be, is this typical behaviour and/or would a firmware update improve on AF performance.

Regards

It's a known issue. If it only recently appeared, then blowing out the bottom of the mirror box might help. Firmware update is supposed to help too.

It is (was) a common complaint, but the firmware update definitely improved the low-light AF performance for me.
