1DS-Battery, can it stay on the charger?

It seems my batteries do great when just fully charged, but die quickly on the shelf. Can they just stay on the charger blinking?

that's what I do with my Lumedyne batteries on a trickle charger. thanks.

Have you refreshed them regularly?

They work best if they are completely discharged and recharged rather than just being run half down and then recharged.

Yes, thanks, but that does not really address my question.

Well, I don't know if it does any damage or any good, but I'd think it keeps them topped off. I know the batts loose power when not in use, so I keep 1 or 2 on the charger for weeks a time, haven't had any problems that I know of, but I'd like to hear an expert reply as well

Leaving them on the charger will NOT harm your batteries........UNLESS the charger goes bad on you. It is designed as a trickle charger and will maintain your battery in a charged state. If by chance the charger goes bad, it would result in damaging your battery, but that would probably happen whether you left in on a week or a few hours past complete charge.

Imaging you are keeping them on charger that went bad, and you have a big job next day. Is this a real worry?

No. While chargers do fail, it's not something that happens with any regularity. The charger will either stop charging altogether or apply a continuous charge at full strength. If your battery is quickly discharging, perhaps the battery is reaching its useable life and needs replacement.
