PENTAX 645 35mm lens - 1Ds2 - manual vs. autofocus

I´m looking for a PENTAX 645 35mm Lens to use attatched to ZORK PSA and 1Ds2. I use a 55mm and 75mm both manual focus. Both lens are great and autofocus is not necessary for me.

What about permormance of this two lenses? (sharpness, contrast, distortion, CA, etc). Some people preffers the autofocus version, but it´s more expensive and more difficult to find. Are the differences beetween the lenses too big?

Thanks.
TWevans.

There are two lenses,

The older 35mm P645, Manual focus and the Newer P645 35mm FA F3.5

The older series, on average is poor, lower quality res. and considerable CA, especially on shifts.

The new series, 35mm FA F3.5 is excellent. Will hold up to arond 18mm of shift, with almost no degredation in quality and in many cases is usable all the way to 22mm.

CA is limitied, but will present itself in certain conditions.

Basically, no comparison between the two lenses.

Everything Paul said.

I am considering selling my Pentax-mount Hartblei 45mm Super Rotator which offer even more shift movements, combined with tilt, and is anything even sharper than the Pentax 35mm FA. Let me know if you're interested...

Thank you, Mark. Only the 35mm lens is necessary for me now.

Thanks.

I have the PSA,with the Pentax 35FA+55A+75A and the 120A Macro.
The 35FA has a slight hind of barrel, however is nice and sharp.
So far so good.
The only problem I found, was trying to get full aperture while focussing.
But is possible.
Regards,
Willem.
