5x4 adapter for 5D

Does anyone know a plate that retro-fits 5x4 cambo/sinar units? I saw one in my pro-dealers a few years ago with a Nikon D1 on it but haven't seen them around recently......There is the Horseman unit which uses rodenstock lenses, but I already have all the bits if I can find the adapter.

Many thanks,

Andy

Could you make one using the tail end of a trashed lens? All you need is the mount and the rest can be made out of wood. You can buy a Canon FD to EF mount converter on ebay for $30. That gives you the lens mount. Attach that to a piece of wood and presto!

This is what I did, using a £12 set of extension tubes. The rear of my 90mm lens comes in contact with the adapter before focus is possible even fairly close up, but the 150mm works well.

Yeah. You would want to make the entire rig absolutely as thin as possible. You've got this long tunnel (the mirror box) stuck in front of the sensor. Those Super Angulons just weren't designed with that in mind. ;-)

Re: 5x4 adapter for 5D

I have the Cambo Ultima 35 with Canon Mount and a Mamiya 645 adapter. I use it with the 1DsII, 5D would work the same.

http://www.cambo.com
http://www.cambo.com/Html/products_p...et/Item85.html

I use this with Mamiya 35, 45, 80, 150 lenses and also with a Schneider 150 lens.

T/S work well with all of them, though the 35 could be sharper. Shift up to 9mm is Ok though.

Its a heavy beast (6Kg) ideal for studio though I do hoik it around in a large tenba bag more successfully than I expected.

These images were shot with it

http://www.digitalrailroad.net/prwfreema...ac43&rcp=46

It was a hot day and quite hard work, but I was happy with the results. I think that these all used the 35mm Mamiya.

You can't go any wider than the 35 Mamiya. Its a long story but basically there is only one shorter option that will practically work, the 28mm Schneider Digitar and ITS PANTS! The first Schneider lens I ever used which I hated.

Horseman's option is cheaper but didn't exist when I bought the Ultima. The benefit of the Ultima is that its a do-anything system. I also have the 5x4 standards for it and you can stick Hassy, RZ whatever lenses on it as well as a conversion kit to a smaller MF back version... which is what I will eventually buy when I go up to MF.

Calumet are the only dealers but don't have the foggiest about this camera. If you want to talk bits and pieces call Cambo direct in the Netherlands, they are helpful and will sell parts direct. Calumet won't even put the parts on their database.

The camera is solid well made and .. you get the idea.
