Help! - CF card door won\'t close

I'm traveling outside the US and my 1Ds II shifted in the case during travel and the CF door was popped open. It now will not close. It seems thee catch in the camera body isn't grabbing the hook on the door. I'm able to shoot but it's driving me crazy and unfortunately I forgot to pack gaffe tape to "fix" it temporarily. I will not be able to ship the camera off until I'm back in the states so I was hoping someone might have experienced this and been able to fix it.

TIA!!!

It's probably the locking mechanism that's on lock; try to turn the CF-door into OPEN position, that should work. Good luck!

Jeroen,

I'v tried that and it still won't catch. My guess is maybe the latch in the body is bent just enough that it won't grab the hook.

Don't laugh - duct tape or similar is probably your best bet in the meantime, preferably black!

Use Gaffer's tape. It's much less likely to leave residue.

Re: Help! - CF card door won\'t close

Stupidly I left my gaffe tape at home. Does anyone happen to know if there's a CPS location in Shanghai? The door swinging opn and closed is driving me nuts and because of all the dials near the door I couldn't get it to stay closed with the little bit of tape I have. Thanks for the replies.
