Evening...

Just thought I check back in and let you all know that the replacement 24-70 came today. Much Much better. Did a quick test and the vignetting problem... as I expected there is still vignetting wide open at 24, however not nearly as much as with the "defective" lens and clears up considerably faster as it's stopped down. It's interesting to note that the zoom ring feels smoother as well. The old lens felt like it was sticking a bit rolling into 24.

Well, there you are, I'll give it a go for a while and see how it responds to the real world.

Here's a recent photo with the Tamron 28- 75 2.8 on my 1Ds.
I have found it to be sharper and exhibit FAR less CA than either of my 24-70 L lenses.
It's better than a couple of my Canon primes actually...
