Re: Eos 1D Preview & Denis Reggie Field Report

The example images are very soft. I wonder how the photographer/editor can post images like that as EXAMPLES of the capability of this camera. The night beach picture is so blurred, it is funny.

In addition, I noticed lots of noise banding at 100% magnification. Check the priest shot. The banding runs vertically since the image is in portrait orientation.
I hope the camera was still pre-production (although was stated it has the latest firmware), because NOISE BANDING is visible even at ISO200.

If you do not the perfect exposure from the camera, 1D picture cannot be pushed (edited) so well as the D30's. (I hope that changesÖ.)

BTW: I am in the waiting list to the 1D, but these new pictures were very disappointing

Anyone shares the same thoughts?
Chuck, could you clarify if the camera will ship with the banding problem?
Fred Miranda

Fred, this has been repeated on other posts, but do not give the quality of photos posted on the net too much weight.

They are greatly affected by compression and othe post processing.

I have to say after reading the review, it sounded very encouraging for us wedding photographers.
