Service Contract for EOS 1D?

I understand the first EOS 1D's should be shipping out on Dec. 5.

Now that the time is getting close. Who offers a good after warranty service agreement? Including a loaner?

I have heard of some offering agreements thru third parties, but they tend to be slow.

Canon has adviced me they have not plan to offer anything beyond the standard one year warranty.

Does the CPS program from Canon still exist?

Re: Service Contract for EOS 1D?

CPS must still exist since when you order a 1d they ask if you are a member. I was a member 8 or so years ago and it was nice. they would loan equip while yours was in shop, they would loan lenses that you didnt have and needed for a special event. When EOS came out they loaned me a complete set up of bodies and long lenses for boat races and I switched to EOS within a year.

Re: Service Contract for EOS 1D?

Since my post I talked to a Canon rep. who told me the CPS program had been discontinued and they were not going to offer any kind of extended warranty program.

Who did you speak to that gave you different advice?

Call 516-488-6700, Canon's NY Office for an application. Ask for the CPS Office.

Unless it has been discontinued in the past 4 or 5 weeks, CPS is alive and well. I just borrowed a lens from them to try out. What a great program! BUT....CPS has never had any digital equipment to loan. Try going through your local Canon rep for a try-out.
