Chuck: question regarding zooming thumbnails

Chuck,

Can you tell me if Canon is planning on adding the "zoom thumbnail" feature to the 1D - every review I've seen says that it is missing. I already have 1 camera on order, and would love for it to arrive with that feature. I use it all the time on my D30 to get a rough idea on focus, check to see if eyes are open, ID people...

Thanks

Hi, Matt:

We're aware of the requests, but it's too soon to say whether this feature can be added. Thanks for your interest!

Re: Chuck: question regarding zooming thumbnails

Since the zoom feature wasn't designed into the body, it doesn't already have a ZOOM button, so it may not be obvious how to include it. If I were adding the feature, here's how I would implement it:

When displaying a preview image, holding down DISPLAY and turning the wheel on the back (Quick Control Dial) would zoom in and out. If you zoom out beyond the full image, it would go to 4-up, then 9-up (which is how it currently works).

While zoomed-in, navigation around the image would be like an Etch-a-Sketch. The wheel on the back would go left and right, while the main dial would go up and down.
