EOS 1D Acquire / conversion software

Hi all anybody got a URL of where I can get the EOS 1D RAW conversion / TWAIN acquire software. I gather it will also handle RAW files from the D30 and twice as fast as the current software. I can't find it on US or UK sites and I can't speak Japanese
I could use fast conversion processes as it helps speed up workflow and customer printing after shooting a bike meet.
Thanx all

Re: EOS 1D Acquire / conversion software

Canon has not released the software yet. No release date has been set, except it is to be prior to the release of the EOS-1D. Note that processing of EOS-1D files is what's to be twice as fast as D30 files; there's definitely not a 2x speed up in processing D30 files in the beta of the software I have.

Re: EOS 1D Acquire / conversion software

raptor,

I hate to disappoint you, but it is not faster with the D30 crw files. It decodes both but the new 1D and the D30 use different raw files and apparently decoding ccd images is an easier (and faster) process. The new program that was once available on the web, but can't be found now, won't set white on D30 ( at least it won't on my two windows machines.

Re: EOS 1D Acquire / conversion software

Interesting thought...

Using the 1D Raw interpretation software on images from a D30...

Looking very closely at the 1D images, I found them to be less soft than D30 images. One could imagine they've improved the algorithms since they wrote the stuff for the D30.

Here's hoping they combine the 1D and D30 interpretation algorithms and the new version provides not only a good method for converting 1D images, but makes life even better for the D30 owners (e.g., the pro whose 1D is in the shop and are using their backup camera). Re: EOS 1D Acquire / conversion software

Duane (and others)

I managed to get a copy of the initial "release" (probably a beta)of the new driver. You can, in fact, set a "click-white-balance" on D30 raw images... there is a slight trick to it... once the folder containing the thumbnails of RAW images is open, you must tell it that the images are D30 images. To do this, use the third-over pull-down menu in the lower bar at the top of screen (it defaults to 'All')...pull down this menu and set it to 'EOS D30 Raw'. Then you can click-balance the image as usual.

(Rob)...It is faster than the previous aquire version. On my new Athlon CPU under Win2000Pro, new version will aquire a RAW D30 file into Photoshop in just under 10 seconds; old version takes 16. That's faster in my book, but not quite 2x as someone else suggested.

hope this helps....

Mike,

Have you had a chance to compare the output from this new version with the output of Canon's old releases (e.g., ZoomBrowser)?

I'm very interested in whether they tightened up the Raw interpretation algorithms any.

Re: EOS 1D Acquire / conversion software

I tried out my version again and I can set white balance but only on thumbnails and only once per image. If I want to try a different spot on the same image I must close the twain app and reopen it and it reopens with the white balance on all images set to "as shot". The third over pull down only has one choice and that's "EOS D30 RAW", there is no other choice. But I believe it knows that from the open folder dialogue, you must pick the file type when you open a folder.

This is version:
Canon Digital Camera twain driver version 4.0.0.15 and
Canon Camera support library version 4.0.0.14
