| Re: EOS-1D Pro observations I thought it was rather humorous when I saw the number of shots available with no lens. The last time I shot 500 frames with no lens, they didn't really come out as well as I had hoped. It was really hard to focus, there seemed to be almost no exposure control, and I had to clean the sensor every minute or so. But hey, it was really light.
I would miss the zoom feature also, but for a slightly different reason than some. When I shoot certain subjects (actually, all human and animal subjects), I snap the shutter based upon a particular expression I am trying to capture. The zoom feature is the only way I know of, to examine the shot close enough to see if I got that magic shot, or if I will have to try again. I can't tell you how many shots I have thrown away on my D30 after close examination via LCD zoom.
Canon will need to address this ASAP, and yes it should be something that can be added in firmware.
BTW, has anyone with a D30 noticed that the cover for the CR2025 backup battery requires almost no effort to remove? I leave a 30-14 quick release plate on my main body to retain it. The other one has a small piece of electrical tape across the seams.
