If the list is 6500 as Rob suggests, what does that translate into when it hits the stores. Store prices are usually lower than list or msrp aren't they?

I've been quoted one at 4050 GBP less VAT. At current exchange rate of 1 GBP = 1.47 USD that should cost around 6000 USD less tax. As stuff is usually cheaper in US rather than UK you might find them at 5800 USD or so ("From your friendly White Van Man at the dock gates").
You will probably have to wait until after the initial scramble however.

I just talked to Helen Jensen at National Graphics Supply. I had purchased my DCS520 from her a year and a half ago and she is great. They also had the best price I had found after a great deal of shopping around. She had told me that if Rob's site had the MSRP at 6500 then the ball park figure was around 5500 USD going by what the D30 and D1x MSRP and street prices were. Does that make sense.
