Re: Illegal Internet Tactics?

Thanks Bob, interesting stuff comes out of questions like this.

I just sent a very brief email demanding that he remove all references to my business from his website. - Ed

Whilst not much use in the states, this link may be of interest to the UK members. This is a case of a company using another company's name in the meta-tags. Costing them £80,000 in fines and court costs !!

Re: Illegal Internet Tactics?

Follow up: it was a young guy who made a mistake and has agreed to remove my name and my studio's name; I also suggested he remove other business and trademark names.

Thanks - Ed

Re: Illegal Internet Tactics?

SEPTEMBER 22 UPDATE ON INTERNET TRICKS OF THE TRADE:

What's the pathway to contact Google about these people who have your name somewhere in their html or website for the purpose of redirecting Google searches to their website instead of yours?

Long story short, Google traffic to my website is being redirected. This also happened in Feb 2008.

Thanks - Ed

Re: Illegal Internet Tactics?

How do you know it's being redirected? Google changes they way they index sites - be that improving it or just trying to thwart those that are abusing/manipulating the system.

Rankings change for all sorts of reasons. I shot the county fair and have a blog. Google the county fair and my blog comes up ahead of the fair site. Why? Possibly because it's a blog, or more current or who the hell knows? The fair's site has been around for years, my blog was 3 weeks old (total age). Don't ask me how that happened, ask google.
