Looking for flash gallery templates...

I am currently using the flash gallery templates included with Lightroom.

While it is good for presenting photos, there is just not enough space for text, just two lines that are visible, and a block of text, that is tucked away in the view menu, and hard to impossible to find.

Also, in Lightroom gallery templates you can't really format your text.

I have seen several photographers having nice flash websites.

As they are all somewhat similar (looks like customized with colors, rounded edges or not, etc...), I wonder if there are good flash gallery templates available, that are more useable than the truly basic Lightroom templates.

I've seen this flash package mentioned on other sites:

Evrium Incorporated

Look at Fluid Galleries 2 in the bottom left portion of the screen.

I haven't used their software, so I can't provide any insights, other than I like their demos.

I am sure you'll receive other recommendations.

Re: Looking for flash gallery templates...

Regarding the fluid gallery, 429$ is a very steep price.

Also, if you read the finer print: you have to resize your photos to exact pixel dimensions. That sounds like a lot of work.

I also found these templates at 99$ each.

Photography flash templates and flash web templates

They are also a bit limiting regarding image format, etc.

I'll continue researching this, and hope for some feedback of gallery users in this thread.

Generally, there are many flash gallery templates being offered on the web.

I hope some actual users provide me and all of you interested in a professional web presentation with feedback.

Check out Flash Websites For Photographers - Pictures Pro
I have been using PhotoCart for over a year now. You can set up flash pages and/or use the "Flash Website" a separate program.

Re: Looking for flash gallery templates...

I went through the exact same problem months ago. Many of the pre-made web sites are very inflexible. I spent days downloading samples and phoning to ask questions to tech support. If you are like me and want to control your web site, be very careful with pre-made templates.

I ended up with ShowItWeb. Showit Products - Showit Effects, Showit Web Super simple to make a gallery and for $199. you have full control, no limits on images or galleries. I love it. Very happy. It simply is added to your existing site.

Keep in mind that it you have an HTML site, you have to be careful switching to a 100% Flash site or you will lose any ratings you have with search engines. Many photographers got very upset when they switched incorrectly and their google ratings went to the bottom. Search engines cannot read what is in your Flash, you have to hide your key words on your home page. I'm no expert on this but you need to do research for sure.

If you want a REALLY nice site and want to spend more, this place has some great stuff:
FlashPalette Web Design.

Tread carefully with pre-mades and ask a LOT of questions.

Doug

Re: Looking for flash gallery templates...

Thank you for these links.

I'll check it out.

I just wonder if a photographer's gallery can't be in html, not in flash, too.

Re: Looking for flash gallery templates...

I saw something at John Beardsworth's blog John Beardsworth Photography News/Blog

He was singing the praises of SlideShowPro for Lightroom
a Web gallery plugin for Adobe Lightroom.

Excerpt from the manual

Quote:
Caption text

Your captions may be as long as you like. SlideShowPro for Lightroom will increase the height of the caption text area as you add more text.

SlideShowPro for Lightroom offers 10 different ways to include captions in your slideshow.
And at $25 it might be worth a try.
