PhotoPlus Expo

Did anyone go to photoplus expo in NY last year? Any particularly good/bad seminars? Any tips? I'm heading there this year for the first time.
Thanks

Re: PhotoPlus Expo

We went last year. Sat in on two of the talks, Dave Black and an other photographer (rock stars). They were alright. Dave was extremely welcoming, we spoke for 20 minutes after his talk. We are registered to attend this year but don't have the time to take in the seminars. The sales floor is one big flea market, however the prices aren't anything to write home about. When you tack on NY sales tax, I'm better of buying here and saving 2 percent. Most of the seminars that I have attended are sales pitches for something. If we go back this year, it will be because my brother-in-law lives in the city and we could have a chance to visit.

Re: PhotoPlus Expo

My wife and I are both registered and probably will make the Expo. We had to pass on it last year because of logistic reasons, but otherwise had been to each of them before that.

Seminar-wise, I believe the seminars at PMA are better -- better presented, better priced, better organized. That said, there are a couple at PhotoExpo I'm interested in, but probably won't make up my mind about until the last minute.

As already mentioned, prices at the show are nothing to write home about, although you *can* get some deals on the last day when some vendors want to just shove things out the door rather than cart them back home.

Most vendors have deals that last a month or so after the show, given some sort of promo code. Probably because they understand that not everyone either wants to lug stuff home with them, or wants to put out more cash or credit on the show floor.
