EXpress Digital

Is anyone using this software? Any recommendations on something similar for doing large projects like school portraits or sports teams?

Re: EXpress Digital

A lot of users and for the money, it's the best there is. If you are wanting to do school ID cards, you'll probably need Assembly Edition, but otherwise, Pro is all you need. The alternatives are: PS actions, very slow by comparison or Timestone from Australia, better, but very pricey.

ED support is far better than it used to be and the program takes quite a while to learn properly. Basic use is pretty well instant, once everything is set-up. Make sure that your printer is among the supported drivers, the Windows or Raster is not the way to go for speed. Best to download the software and try it before you buy. There also is 2 support groups on Yahoo, but you have to apply to join.

Re: EXpress Digital

Thanks. I saw it demo'd at WPPI and saw some of what it could do. What I am thinking is getting laptops with it and tether to the camera and shoot, while inputing all the information. I have two or three school project contracts I am up for and it would really be great to have it.

I don't really mind having to change printers again, but I would rather have everything be saved on the computer and then "sent out" to be printed that day or ordered online.

I would never print a school on site. With ED, you would normally save tethered to a folder and then print afterward or to an off site lab using ED. There was a post in product announcements about free ED software when you use their lab. Might be worth a look.
