Bulk E mail question

I have some e mail lists ( not spam, opt in) of few thousand names. I was going to use this web based bulk mailer, but did test and all e mails ended up in my junk mail. I tested with 5 newly created web based e mails addresses and same thing-- but it did make it into Lycos mails inbox. Then found better company.

Better company got into all the inbox (except Lycos!), and all my personal inbox -- much better performance. I called the good company and asked why did it not get into the LYcos account? -- which even the crappy company achiebed. Guy said, " oh, our isp is blacklisted from Lycos mail"

I asked how many isp's is he blacklisted from, he said maybe 2%, not a lot.
(could it be more?)

Here is my question:

I still thinking of using the good company, but wondering, what about using a computer based bulk e mailer? the pro would be probably more mail being accepted (since my home isp is not a known spammer and not blacklisted anywhere) -- to my knowledge. And it would just be a one time $75 fee -- as opposed to $1000 year using the web based compnay.

The con is that there are no stats (how important is that really?), and there is a big learning curve to learn how to schedule e mails at 50 per hour, and 500 max per day, and monitor that over a week or some from home.

Any opinions? thanks.

Re: Bulk E mail question

I have used MS Outlook to send bulk emails to clients with success. You can even take data from your database on last order or last event and embed it in your message.

It sends each email one at a time so it may tie up the application for a few hours, but using the merge option you can easily send them in groups of 50 or 100.

You probably already have the capability on your machine, just need to read the help files on how to do it.

You have to be very careful - you can easily end up blacklisted. I wouldn't my normal account.

Re: Bulk E mail question

I've gotten "spam" from several different companies who use a web based company called "Constant Contact".

They might be worth checking out at www.constantcontact.com.

Let me know what you think.

Re: Bulk E mail question

You might check out Agency Access. I use their services and have good success. I create an epromo that I send out using their services. The beauty of it is that you can track who opens the epromo and do follow ups. Also, if somebody unsubscribes, Agency Access removes them from the list and let's you know who it is. I've used their lists and combined them with my own. Lastly, the address on the epromo is agency access's not your's so your email address doesn't get blacklisted.

Cheers

Re: Bulk E mail question

I sent about 600 emails using the default Mail program on OS X. Just pasted the addresses in BCC: and hit send.
