I am an event photographer, I have been asked on a few occasions to show my photos live at the event. I have looked at all the slide show software out there but they show all the images in a directory and have to be re-started every time I add new images.
Has anybody seen some slideshow software that auto loads the images as they are added to a directory and allows me to show say just the last 30 images, so the slide show always remains the same length and automatically shows new images as I add them?

Since no one offered a suggestion yet, I know there is such a thing but I can't remember which one does that. You can check out JAlbum and some of the skins that go with it. It's public software and a great many people are adding to it's capabilities all the time. I think one of the skins will do what you want, except the length of the show will be longer as you add more images.
The ones I currently use force you to restart the show when new ones are added which is what you are trying to prevent. Once you find the answer, please post it here for others to benefit.

Hi Doug. Thanks for the tip about JAlbum. The way I want to use the software, I want guests at an event to see their images coming up on-screen fairly quickly. Many of the venues at which I shoot corporate events have multiple plasma screens around the place. People enjoy seeing themselves appear on the plasma's. If I could control the show so that I could automatically ingest images from my wireless transmission into a slideshow and just show say the last 10 images in date or file name order I could run the slideshow on my own without the need for another member of staff uploading and editing. Also the slideshow needs to be seamless. I have heard rumors of a company here in the UK working on something that may do some of what I require but I can't find their details or any information. I'm surprised I'm struggling to find anything like this worldwide. I don't know if there's a big enough call for such software which is why maybe nobody has looked into producing such software. As an event photographer it seems to me to be the next step in slideshow/event software. I've had quite a few requests now for this type of service but I'm not sure of the best way of getting around it.

Simon, one software you might want to try is a Jalbum skin called Event Viewer. Search under Jalbum>skins>Event Viewer. The guy who did it is at Event Photographer Dorset - A professional Photography Service. Mike Weeks says it will update automatically but the slideshow is random, not sequential. You may want to contact him to see if something can ba altered to make it work the way you want.
Seeing that he's also from the UK, you should be able to understand each other.
Thanks Doug. I'll have another look at Jalbum software. I couldn't find the Event Viewer skin when I looked just now. It does appear to me however reading about the software, as good as it is, it appears to be mainly for web based galleries. I'll do some more research and possibly contact event Photographer Dorset directly.

I don't have any experience of it, one of my suppliers emailed out that it was being shown at a seminar they are running tomorrow. I don't know where you are based, it's a UK company.
Incidentally I know the Dorset photographer, Mike Weeks, very nice guy and always helpful.
