Help! City photos (Project)

Hi there!
Right now I'm doing a project for school, because I am in my senior year. My project is to do a photo book with pictures of my city, called Umeå in Sweden.

And I need your help and opinions!

Questions I need help and tips with:

How do you trough photos illustrate a city in the best artistic way possible?

What should be in the photos?
Buildings, bridges, statues, nature, inhabitants, certain things that is typical for the city, and so on?

What "mood" should the photos have? Should they be dark or light or both?

Should they be in colour, black and white, or both?

I'm extremely greatful for answers! And preferably as soon as possible. :)

//Anna

Anna,
it's a matter of your taste)
I like black&white sity photos with lots of contrast, mostly in a dark key.
and bird's-eye views, and panoramic shots are exellent to present a city.
as to "mood" - you may choose one particular mood for your photos - it will create unity of the exposition. or, on the contrary, show all the versatality of your city)
Good Luck!

Re: Help! City photos (Project)

I would suggest you approach the city exclusively through your own eyes and experience, instead of trying to guess about other people's perceptions of the city. (After all, they will contribute their own perceptions and experience when viewing your photos.) Think about the indelible images in your own mind of the city and go collect them, or at least walk around the city and start collecting the sights of the city that interest you. The more idiosyncratic, the better.
