Remote triggering devices

Im after a remote triggering device, I have identified two that looks
as if they will meet my needs
the Mumford Time Machine
and the Phototrap
Anybody got any experience with these devices or the companies
that make them or indeed any other similiar devices
Basically Im looking to shoot wildlife during daylight and nighttime
cheers
Lenny

Re: Remote triggering devices

thanks Doug but i guess I wasnt clear on what Im after, its not a tethered setup
or via remote shutter but a system that triggers when an ir or laser beam is broken
Im looking to catch wildlife either day or night.
however being a happy user of breezebrowser and downloader pro I will get DSLR remote pro if I ever get round to getting the wireless transmitter for my 5dmk2
thanks again for your input
cheers
Lenny

Re: Remote triggering devices

i own the time machine and it is the best thing i have ever owned. simple to use, digital display, well built and among the cheaper of them. i havent seen or used the photo trap untill just now, nor did i realize it is about the same price.

i highly highly highly recommend the time machine. it was created by bryan mumford who always answers the phone and is happy to help you figure how to do things. it was created for brooks institute of photography at the request of the head of the high speed photography department.

i went to brooks and i bought a time machine as a student and used it for several years. i use it occasionally now, but not many projects call for it.

there are many shutter connectors for the time machine, i am sure all your cameras are available. if you need to fire all those cameras from one triggering then talk to him, most likely its possible.

i also had the shutterbeam triggering device and its ok but not the greatest. its limited to the 2 built in sensors and has knobs to adjust time delay.

Re: Remote triggering devices

I looked up the links for these two devices:

Mumford Time machine
The Time Machine Camera Controller / Intervalometer

and the Phototrap:
Phototrap The Ultamate Photographic Trigger System

as I was not familiar with these devices. I remember that the Nikon ML-2 and ML-3 had this capability. I owned both of them, but never used that facility.

Both of the above items look like where it's at these days.
