Marketing with MySpace

Do pros use MySpace as a marketing tool?
I've decided to give it a try and hope not to get bombarded with a bunch of junk through the venture. Thought that the risk might be worth taking.
Any discussion on the topic would be appriciated so I know what to look out for.... Thanks

Here's my site if you care to take a look:
MySpace.com - Maximum Exposure Photography - 99 - Male - COEUR D ALENE, Idaho - www.myspace.com/maddymaxx

Re: Marketing with MySpace

I like the concept. Your site is way too busy for my old eyes but I very much doubt that you are marketing to people like me. I showed it to my 28 yr old daughter (not a photographer) and she said "it's cool how the pictures are moving but it's too much to view at once".

Maybe if the background was black I'd find it less confusing. But then, too many photographers have black backgrounds on their sites.

Just my thoughts ...

Thanks Doug and thank your daughter. This is an attempt to get the word out to the younger crowd. My web site is a more standard setup. Maximum Exposure Photography There's not too much latitude with setting up the MySpace as far as boxes go with images. It was my daughter that put it together for me.

Re: Marketing with MySpace

You might wish to do some marketing with Twitter. Don't ask me, though, because I am not up on the latest marketing techniques. However, from my brief exposure, Twitter can be used to locate interesting people, including journalists, bloggers, and others that can provide you with more brand awareness.

Just thought I'd mention it...

Re: Marketing with MySpace

you should talk to other studios in cda. i know artisan does myspace. i see others advertise on craigs list, i think theres nothing great to come from there, never any good jobs, only clients looking for dirt cheap stuff. i think its all to just be intouch with your clients more. perhaps do it but dont focus alot of energy into it. its free.
